In the works...
MAJOR PROJECT: My own retelling of The Phantom of the Opera, in visual format somewhat like a graphic novel--except not. It's not going to be a graphic novel in the traditional sense, anyway. So far, I've designed most of the characters, some costumes, and some sets, but I'm having issues coming to a consensus (with myself) about what I want my drawing style to look like. What I would love would be to have a mixture of the finely detailed/realistic stuff as well as some more casual drawings, but anything that I don't spend 20 hours on ends up crappy, so that'll be my thing to work on...
-Harry Potter art. I really want to do some. My favorite characters are Snape, Ron, and Luna, so expect some stuff of them when summer vacation rolls around. Side note: I've loved the Harry Potter books since I was eight years old, but have not been active in the online HP fandom. Recently, I have visited some HP websites and have been alarmed to find that so much time is devoted to matters of shipping. It seems almost... sacrilegious! Who really gives a crap? Hermione used to be one of my favorite characters, but now she's been Sueified by both the movies (in which she gets less geeky and more beautiful in each progressive film) and the fans who insist on making her the romantic interest of absolutely every male character.
LOL, sorry about that rant, I got a bit off topic.
-Pirate!Erik. Oh yes. I wanna draw a young Erik gettin' his Jack Sparrow on in Tonkin Bay. It's only a brief mention in Leroux--the reed trick and all--but wooo, that idea is just stupidly attractive to me.
-Mathematical poems. It's this idea that I'm really starting to love. Wouldn't it be kind of cool if the letters or syllables in a poem followed a mathematical formula? They could either be really simple or really complicated, but they'd be beautiful, I think.
-Short fiction. I have one rather dark idea for a fanfic brewing in my mind, and I want to really work on cutting the flab from my prose style and giving it punch.
Do I do anything besides fanart?
Nope. I'm pathetic. I just can't stop thinking about fandom stuff once I get on a roll. I feel like anything I pull out of my ass just wouldn't be as interesting to me as something that's based on characters I know and love--which is why I know I can never be an artist or writer as a career. Just the idea of writing a story about some random person I made up makes me go "Meh."
Anyway, I'm in the middle of writing a paper for English class. I should get back to that. This was a nice interlude, however. Good night and have a great rest-of-the-winter and spring, people! I'll check back in when June arrives.

Sir, I send a rhyme excelling,
In sacred truth and rigid spelling,
Numerical sprites elucidate,
For me the lexicon's dull weight,
If nature gain,
Nor you complain,
Tho' Dr Johnson fulminate.

the abyss also gazes into you.
